Dharma Procion Dye Hex colour codes for easy digital design + recording!

Procion tie-dye hex codes for dye design

I have another great free tie-dye resource for you here – ALL the Dharma Procion dye colours, with hex codes.

Yay!

Or is it more like….Er, actually, what’s a hex code?

OK. Online, every colour has a unique code made of 6 letters and/or numbers.

This means that each Dharma Procion dye can be matched up with a hex code, so we have an accurate on-screen example of the colour.

And us dyers can use those codes to help us design and record our tie-dyes.

How can you use the Dharma Procion Dye hex codes?

There are SO MANY WAYS you can use these. Here are a few to get you started.

  • Sign up for the FREE dye journal and use them to create colour ideas for your tie-dyes. Mix and match the colours until you get the effect you want, then head to your dye table. When you’re finished, add your pics to the results section so you have a good record of your results.

  • Got a picture of a colourway that you’d love to reproduce in dye? Use the dye journal to ‘pick’ the colours in the photo, then match them up with the closest Dharma Procion dye colour (detailed instructions coming soon).
  • Record your dye projects with colour palettes, like I do. Use this template in Canva and the step-by-step video tutorial to easily create images like mine.
  • Designing flyers for your tie-dye market stall? Or creating a tie-dye website? Choose hex codes that represent your favourite colourway. Dragon Fruit and Mermaid’s Dream sounds rather good….

So here they are – all the current Dharma Procion dye colours with hex codes. Let me know how you use them!

Notes:

  • Dharma states that colours are based on vat dyeing with 1tbsp of dye to 1lb of fabric. Different methods or concentrations will yield darker or lighter shades
  • 1 tsp of dye per 1 cup of water gives similar results when liquid dyeing
  • Colours with * require twice as much dye
  • Colours with ** require four times as much dye
